Description
NBR Replacement Seals

SWEP NBR Gaskets for Verified Gasketed Units

SWEP NBR gaskets are independently manufactured replacement seals intended for verified SWEP heat exchanger configurations with openable, gasketed plate packs. NBR is commonly considered for compatible lubricating oils, hydraulic fluids and selected industrial utility duties.

Many SWEP products use permanently brazed plate packs without replaceable elastomer gaskets. Before quotation, the unit construction, gasket profile and NBR compatibility must each be confirmed.

Provide for Review

  • Complete SWEP model
  • Nameplate and full-unit photos
  • Plate code or gasket sample
  • Oil or process-fluid specification
  • Operating and cleaning temperatures
  • Plate count and required quantity
NBR gasket replacement does not apply to standard brazed SWEP plate packs.

A permanently brazed unit has no removable plate gaskets. Send its model and leakage details for a different equipment assessment.

Application Review

Where NBR May Be Considered

NBR suitability depends on the exact oil formulation, additives, temperature and exposure cycle-not only the general application name.

Lubricating-Oil Cooling

Selected lubrication circuits after oil grade, additives and temperatures are reviewed.

Hydraulic-Oil Service

Compatible hydraulic-fluid cooling duties with a complete fluid specification.

Industrial Oil Cooling

Selected machinery and process-oil circuits within confirmed compound conditions.

Utility Water Duties

Selected water services where chemistry and temperature are compatible with NBR.

Oil-to-Water Cooling

Thermal systems handling compatible oil on one side and utility water on the other.

Plate-Pack Overhauls

Complete NBR gasket-set assessment during plate cleaning and inspection.

Technical Data

SWEP NBR Gasket Supply Specification

Specification Supply or Confirmation Basis Buyer Information Required
Applicable equipment Verified openable SWEP configuration with replaceable plate gaskets Nameplate and complete equipment photographs
Product type OEM-compatible NBR replacement plate gasket Complete model and plate details
Profile Matched to the plate groove, ports and sealing path Plate code, images, dimensions or sample
Material NBR compound subject to application review Fluid name, grade, base stock, additives and concentration
Attachment Matched to the corresponding plate-retention design Close images of clips, tabs or bonded sections
Plate position Start, channel and end configurations where applicable Plate sequence and total plate count
Inspection Appearance, profile consistency and order identification checks Any agreed project-specific requirements
Packaging Standard export packing or agreed custom labels and packaging Project code, unit number or private-label format

A universal NBR temperature rating is not stated because suitability changes with compound formulation, fluid composition, additives and exposure duration.

Fluid Compatibility

Specify the Oil, Not Only the Application

Typical NBR Review Contexts

NBR is commonly evaluated for compatible duties involving:

  • Selected mineral-based lubricating oils
  • Compatible hydraulic fluids
  • Selected machinery and process oils
  • Compatible industrial utility water
  • Oil-to-water cooling circuits

Conditions Requiring Separate Review

Do not assume standard NBR is suitable for:

  • Unidentified synthetic oils
  • Aromatic or aggressive solvents
  • Strong oxidizing chemicals
  • High-temperature cleaning solutions
  • Fluid mixtures with unknown additives

Compatibility depends on chemical composition, concentration, temperature and exposure duration. A description such as "hydraulic oil" is not sufficient for final selection.

Gasket Identification

Data Needed for Profile Matching

  • Clear photograph of the complete SWEP nameplate
  • Images showing the frame and tightening bolts
  • Model and identification marked on the plate
  • Front and rear photographs of an intact gasket
  • Close views of ports and gasket-retention points
  • Plate dimensions if identification is incomplete
  • Plate count and required gasket quantity

Why Used-Gasket Dimensions Can Be Misleading

An old NBR gasket may be stretched, flattened, hardened or swollen. Its dimensions may no longer represent the correct molded profile.

  • Use the plate groove as the main reference.
  • Keep the removed gasket flat for photographs.
  • Provide an intact section where possible.
  • Do not identify NBR by color alone.
Order Workflow

From Unit Verification to NBR Gasket Packing

STEP 01

Check Construction

Equipment images confirm that the plate pack uses removable gaskets.

STEP 02

Match the Profile

Plate groove, port rings, sealing ribs and retaining points are reviewed.

STEP 03

Review NBR

Oil type, additives, temperatures and cleaning conditions are assessed.

STEP 04

Inspect and Pack

Finished gaskets are checked and packed by confirmed order details.

For Maintenance Teams

Separate each exchanger by model, unit number and plate count. Preserve the plate sequence and inspect the gasket grooves before fitting the replacement set.

For Distributors and OEM Buyers

Provide the verified gasketed model range, NBR requirements, quantity per item, labeling format and destination. Custom packaging can be reviewed with the order.

SWEP is referenced solely to identify equipment compatibility. WTSML NBR gaskets are independently manufactured and are not represented as original SWEP products.

Buyer Questions

SWEP NBR Gasket FAQ

Do all SWEP heat exchangers use NBR gaskets?

No. Many SWEP units are brazed heat exchangers without replaceable elastomer gaskets. Construction must be verified before requesting NBR replacements.

What applications are SWEP NBR gaskets considered for?

NBR is commonly evaluated for compatible lubricating oils, hydraulic fluids and selected industrial utility duties after the fluid specification is reviewed.

Is NBR suitable for every oil?

No. Base oils, synthetic formulations and additive packages vary. Provide the complete fluid name or technical data for compound review.

What temperature can a SWEP NBR gasket withstand?

The allowable temperature depends on the NBR formulation, fluid, additives and exposure cycle. Submit continuous, peak and cleaning temperatures.

Can NBR gaskets be supplied for a brazed SWEP unit?

No. A standard brazed plate pack is permanently joined and does not contain removable plate gaskets.

Can an older gasketed SWEP unit be matched from a sample?

Sample-based assessment may be possible. Send an intact gasket, its corresponding plate, equipment photographs, dimensions and service conditions.

Are these original SWEP NBR gaskets?

No. Any supplied gaskets are independently manufactured, OEM-compatible parts matched to a verified gasketed SWEP configuration.

Verify the Unit and NBR Compatibility

Send the SWEP model, nameplate and equipment photographs, plate or gasket details, complete fluid specification, temperatures, quantity and destination.
