Description
EPDM Replacement Seals

SWEP EPDM Gaskets for Verified Gasketed Units

SWEP EPDM gaskets are independently manufactured replacement seals intended for verified SWEP heat exchanger configurations with openable, gasketed plate packs. EPDM is commonly considered for compatible hot-water, HVAC and other aqueous duties.

Many SWEP products use permanently brazed construction and have no replaceable elastomer gaskets between the plates. Equipment construction, gasket profile and EPDM compatibility must therefore be confirmed before quotation.

Provide for Review

  • Complete SWEP model
  • Nameplate and full-unit photos
  • Plate code or gasket sample
  • Media on both circuits
  • Operating and cleaning temperatures
  • Plate count and required quantity
EPDM gasket replacement does not apply to standard brazed SWEP plate packs.

A permanently brazed unit has no removable plate gaskets. Send the model and leakage details for a different equipment assessment.

Application Review

Where EPDM May Be Considered

Final selection requires the exact fluid composition and full temperature cycle. A general application name cannot confirm elastomer compatibility.

Hot-Water Circulation

Compatible heating and hot-water duties within the confirmed EPDM operating conditions.

HVAC Water Systems

Selected chilled-water and heating-water circuits in commercial or industrial installations.

Industrial Water Cooling

Selected cooling-water and process-water duties after water chemistry is reviewed.

Water-Glycol Circuits

Compatible glycol mixtures when glycol type, concentration and additives are disclosed.

Heat-Recovery Duties

Compatible aqueous circuits used for process heating, cooling or energy recovery.

Plate-Pack Overhauls

Complete EPDM gasket-set assessment during plate cleaning and inspection.

Technical Data

SWEP EPDM Gasket Supply Specification

Specification Supply or Confirmation Basis Buyer Information Required
Applicable equipment Verified openable SWEP configuration with replaceable plate gaskets Nameplate and complete equipment photographs
Product type OEM-compatible EPDM replacement plate gasket Complete model and plate details
Profile Matched to the plate groove, ports and sealing path Plate code, images, dimensions or sample
Material EPDM compound subject to application review Media, concentration, additives and temperatures
Attachment Matched to the corresponding plate-retention design Close images of clips, tabs or bonded sections
Plate position Start, channel and end configurations where applicable Plate sequence and total plate count
Inspection Appearance, profile consistency and order identification checks Any agreed project-specific requirements
Packaging Standard export packing or agreed custom labels and packaging Project code, unit number or private-label format

A universal EPDM temperature rating is not stated because suitability changes with compound formulation, media, cleaning chemicals and exposure cycle.

Chemical Compatibility

Review Every Fluid That Contacts the EPDM

Common EPDM Selection Contexts

EPDM is commonly evaluated for compatible duties involving:

  • Hot- and cold-water circulation
  • Selected HVAC water systems
  • Compatible water-glycol mixtures
  • Selected aqueous process solutions
  • Compatible cleaning and rinse cycles

Conditions Requiring Caution

EPDM may be unsuitable where the gasket encounters:

  • Mineral oils and lubricating oils
  • Petroleum-derived fluids
  • Hydrocarbon contamination
  • Unidentified chemical additives
  • Unverified cleaning solutions

Compatibility depends on chemical composition, concentration, temperature and exposure duration. Check the cleaning stage as well as normal production.

Gasket Identification

Data Needed for Profile Matching

  • Clear photograph of the complete SWEP nameplate
  • Images showing the frame and tightening bolts
  • Model and identification marked on the plate
  • Front and rear photographs of an intact gasket
  • Close views of ports and gasket-retention points
  • Plate dimensions if identification is incomplete
  • Plate count and required gasket quantity

Do Not Select EPDM by Color

Color is not a dependable elastomer specification. Used gaskets can also change appearance after prolonged exposure to heat, process fluids and cleaning chemicals.

  • Check maintenance and material records.
  • Confirm whether the process medium changed.
  • Provide all cleaning chemicals.
  • Use the plate groove as the profile reference.
Order Workflow

From Unit Verification to EPDM Gasket Packing

STEP 01

Check Construction

Equipment images confirm that the plate pack uses removable gaskets.

STEP 02

Match the Profile

Plate groove, ports, sealing ribs and retaining points are reviewed.

STEP 03

Review EPDM

Media, additives, temperatures and cleaning cycles are assessed.

STEP 04

Inspect and Pack

Finished gaskets are checked and packed by the confirmed order details.

For Maintenance Teams

Separate each exchanger by model, unit number and plate count. Preserve the plate sequence and inspect the gasket grooves before installing the replacement set.

For Distributors and OEM Buyers

Provide the verified gasketed model range, EPDM requirements, quantity per item, labeling format and destination. Custom packaging can be reviewed with the order.

SWEP is referenced solely to identify equipment compatibility. WTSML EPDM gaskets are independently manufactured and are not represented as original SWEP products.

Buyer Questions

SWEP EPDM Gasket FAQ

Do all SWEP heat exchangers use EPDM gaskets?

No. Many SWEP units are brazed plate heat exchangers with no replaceable elastomer gaskets. Construction must be verified before requesting EPDM replacements.

What applications are SWEP EPDM gaskets considered for?

EPDM is commonly evaluated for compatible hot-water, HVAC, water-glycol and other aqueous duties after fluid and temperature conditions are reviewed.

Is EPDM suitable for oil service?

EPDM is generally not selected for mineral oils, petroleum fluids or hydrocarbon exposure. Provide the complete medium composition for material review.

What temperature can a SWEP EPDM gasket withstand?

The allowable temperature depends on the EPDM formulation, process fluid, cleaning chemicals and exposure cycle. Submit continuous, peak and cleaning temperatures.

Can EPDM gaskets be supplied for a brazed SWEP unit?

No. A standard brazed plate pack is permanently joined and does not contain removable plate gaskets.

Can an older gasketed SWEP unit be matched from a sample?

Sample-based assessment may be possible. Send an intact gasket, corresponding plate, equipment photographs, measurements and available service records.

Are these original SWEP EPDM gaskets?

No. Any supplied gaskets are independently manufactured, OEM-compatible parts matched to a verified gasketed SWEP configuration.

Verify the Unit and EPDM Compatibility

Send the SWEP model, nameplate and equipment photographs, plate or gasket details, process media, temperatures, quantity and destination.
