Replacement Gaskets for Gasketed SWEP Heat Exchanger Designs
SWEP plate heat exchanger gaskets are applicable only to SWEP equipment that uses removable elastomer seals between the plates. Many SWEP products are brazed plate heat exchangers with permanently joined plate packs and do not contain replaceable plate gaskets.
Before quotation, WTSML checks the equipment nameplate, model, construction and plate details. For a gasketed configuration, the replacement profile must match the sealing groove, ports and retaining geometry, while the elastomer must suit the process medium and operating conditions.
Identify the Unit First
- Photograph the nameplate
- Record the complete SWEP model
- Confirm whether bolts open the plate pack
- Photograph an individual plate
- Show the existing gasket profile
- Provide process conditions
Does Your SWEP Heat Exchanger Use Replaceable Gaskets?
Confirm the heat exchanger construction before treating leakage or maintenance as a gasket replacement project.
Openable Gasketed Construction
A gasketed unit has a plate pack compressed by a frame and tightening bolts. Elastomer gaskets sit between individual plates and can be accessed when the pack is opened.
- Frame and pressure plate are visible.
- Tightening bolts compress the plate pack.
- Individual plates and gaskets can be removed.
- Plate sequence must be preserved during service.
Brazed Plate Heat Exchanger
A brazed SWEP unit uses brazed joints to seal and support the plate pack. It normally has no removable elastomer gasket between each heat transfer plate.
- The plate pack is permanently joined.
- There are no frame-tightening bolts.
- The unit is not opened for gasket replacement.
- Leakage requires a different service assessment.
SWEP Gasket Order Specification
| Specification | Supply or Confirmation Basis | Buyer Information Required |
|---|---|---|
| Equipment type | Openable gasketed SWEP configuration only | Nameplate and full-unit photographs |
| Product type | OEM-compatible replacement plate gasket | Complete model and plate details |
| Profile | Matched to the plate groove, ports and sealing path | Plate code, photographs, dimensions or sample |
| Material options | NBR, EPDM or FKM, subject to application review | Media, concentration, additives and temperatures |
| Attachment | Matched to the corresponding plate and existing gasket design | Close photographs of retaining points |
| Plate position | Start, channel and end arrangements where applicable | Plate-pack sequence and plate count |
| Inspection | Appearance, profile consistency and order identification checks | Any project-specific inspection requirement |
| Packaging | Standard export packing or agreed custom packaging and labels | Project code, unit number or private-label format |
A SWEP model number must not be assumed to require gaskets. Construction verification is the first step in every request.
Four Checks Before a Gasket Is Approved
Equipment Construction
Confirm that the unit is an openable design with replaceable elastomer gaskets.
Plate Geometry
Match the groove, port rings, diagonal seals and retaining points.
Process Media
Review both circuits, including additives and possible contamination.
Operating Cycle
Include normal, peak, startup, shutdown and cleaning conditions.
Select the Gasket Material from Actual Service Data
The correct profile does not compensate for an unsuitable rubber compound. Fluid compatibility and temperature must be reviewed separately.
NBR
Commonly considered for compatible oil-related and selected utility duties.
Provide the oil type, base stock, additives and temperature range.
Oil-related serviceEPDM
Commonly considered for compatible hot-water, HVAC and aqueous duties.
Mineral oils and hydrocarbon exposure must be disclosed.
Water-based serviceFKM
Considered for selected aggressive chemicals, oils and elevated temperatures.
Complete chemical composition and cleaning data are required.
Demanding process serviceWhat to Send with Your RFQ
- Complete SWEP equipment nameplate photograph
- Images showing the frame and complete plate pack
- Model and any identification marked on the plate
- Front and rear photographs of an intact gasket
- Plate length, width and port diameter if needed
- Media and temperatures for both circuits
- Cleaning chemicals, concentration and temperature
- Number of plates and required gasket quantity
If the Unit Is Brazed
Do not dismantle a permanently brazed plate pack to search for replaceable gaskets. Provide the model, leakage location, process media and operating conditions for a replacement-unit or service assessment.
- Check connections and external piping first.
- Identify whether leakage is internal or external.
- Record pressure and temperature at the event.
- Do not attempt to separate brazed plates.
From Construction Check to Packed Gasket Set
Verify the Unit
Nameplate and equipment images confirm whether replaceable gaskets are present.
Match the Profile
Plate groove, ports, sealing sections and attachment points are reviewed.
Select Material
Media, concentration, temperatures and cleaning cycles determine the compound.
Inspect and Pack
Finished gaskets are checked and packed by the confirmed order information.
SWEP Plate Heat Exchanger Gasket FAQ
Do all SWEP plate heat exchangers use gaskets?
No. Many SWEP products are brazed plate heat exchangers and do not use replaceable elastomer gaskets between the plates. The exact construction must be checked from the model and equipment photographs.
How can I tell whether my SWEP unit is gasketed or brazed?
An openable gasketed unit normally has a frame, pressure plate and tightening bolts. A brazed unit has a permanently joined plate pack without removable plate gaskets.
Can you supply gaskets for a SWEP brazed plate heat exchanger?
No replaceable plate gaskets are used in a standard brazed plate pack. Provide the model and fault details so the appropriate service or replacement direction can be determined.
Can an older gasketed SWEP unit be identified from a sample?
Sample-based assessment may be possible. Send an intact gasket with its matching plate, equipment photographs, dimensions and available operating records.
Which gasket materials are available?
WTSML offers flexible gasket material selection, including NBR, EPDM and FKM options. Profile availability and material suitability must be confirmed for the specific equipment and service conditions.
Can complete SWEP gasket sets be supplied?
For a confirmed gasketed configuration, complete sets can be assessed using the model, plate count, plate arrangement and required elastomer compound.
Are these genuine SWEP replacement parts?
No. Any supplied gasket is an independently manufactured, OEM-compatible replacement part matched to a verified gasketed SWEP configuration.
SWEP is referenced solely to identify equipment compatibility. WTSML replacement parts are independently manufactured and are not represented as original SWEP products.
Confirm the SWEP Construction Before Requesting Gaskets
Send the nameplate, full-unit photographs, plate and gasket details, process conditions, quantity and destination for identification.
